A report into alleged match-fixing in France’s Ligue 2 last season has found that football clubs Stade Malherbe Caen and Nîmes Olympique colluded to arrange a 1-1 draw in their 13 May match, reports L’Equipe. The 50-page report, which was commissioned by France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), was drawn up by François Jaspart, the Director of the LFP’s Disciplinary Commission and a former police chief.

According to L’Equipe, the report reveals that former Nîmes President Jean-Marc Conrad and SM Caen President Jean-Francois Fortin held telephone conversations during which it was discussed that a draw would be enough for both teams. It also alleges that four boxes of wine worth €45 were purchased by Nîmes and given to SM Caen after the match. The result secured SM Caen’s promotion to Ligue 1 and Nîmes’ survival in Ligue 2.

It is understood that the LFP’s Disciplinary Commission will hold a meeting on 16 and 17 March to decide what action to take. Police made a number of arrests on 17/18 November last year in connection to the allegations. The LFP commissioned its investigation on 18 November 2014.
