• Ursula Papandrea Garza, interim President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), is seeking to have President Tamas Ajan removed from its Executive Board, a letter leaked to journalists working for ARD reveals (see tweet below). In the letter, Papandrea accuses Ajan of acting as if he is still IWF President and threatening to have her arrested. Ajan stepped aside in January following allegations of corruption.

• Hayley Wickenheiser has told InsideTheGames that she was criticised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for arguing that its delay in postponing the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was “irresponsible”. Wickenheiser, a four time Olympic ice hockey gold medalist who is in her final year of medical school, said that her comments were provoked due to seeing increasing numbers of Covid-19 patients in emergency rooms in Toronto.
• Two weightlifters have been provisionally suspended after returning adverse analytical findings (AAFs), the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has announced. Poland’s Łukasz Grela, who won a bronze in the 94kg category at the 2018 European Weightlifting Championships, returned an AAF for drostanolone metabolite 2α-methyl-5α-androstan3α-ol-17-one. Al Ajmi Murshid Mohamed Murshid, from Oman, returned an AAF for oxandrolone metabolite 18-noroxandrolone.
