Four weightlifters, a swimmer and a track and field athlete have been sanctioned for anti-doping rule violations (ADRVs), the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has announced. One of the weightlifters has been sanctioned for competing whilst banned, two due to evidence that they utilised a prohibited substance or method, and another for an ADRV involving a adverse analytical finding (AAF – or ‘positive test’) for a prohibited substance.
Weightlifter Sergey Oreshnikov (Сергея Орешникова) has been sanctioned with a four year ban for competing whilst disqualified. Oreshnikov was sanctioned with a four year ban in November 2018, and his new ban will commence from 1 October 2022, when his previous sanction was due to end.
Artur Kabisov (Артура Кабисова) has been sanctioned with a six year ban from 30 June for an ADRV due to evidence that he utilised a substance or method that features on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Prohibited List. Kabisov won a Silver Medal in the -105kg category at the 2016 Russian weightlifting championships.
Weightlifter Alexandra Paraschuk (Александру Паращук) has been sanctioned with a two year ban from 30 June for an ADRV due to evidence that she utilised a substance or method that features on WADA’s Prohibited List. Another weightlifter, Dmitry Grets (Дмитрия Греца) has been sanctioned with a two year ban from 21 May 2020, for an ADRV involving an AAF for a prohibited substance.
Swimmer Denis Zhdanov (Дениса Жданова) has been sanctioned with a three year ban from 28 May 2021 for an ADRV, due to evidence that he utilised a substance or method that features on WADA’s Prohibited List. Finally, track and field athlete Sergey Mikhailovsky (Сергея Михайловского) has been sanctioned with a four year ban from 27 May. Mikhailovsky was sanctioned for use or attempted use of a prohibited substance, and for evading sample collection.
