RUSADA announces eight doping sanctions

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has announced that four weightlifters and four track and field athletes have been sanctioned, seven with four year bans and one with a two year ban. Four year sanctions were announced against four weightlifters the day before the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

RUSADA announced that the Russian weightlifting federation (OTAP) had issued four year bans to Valeria Temnik, Roman Rednikin, Sergey Oreshnikov and Fatima Umakhanova. It also announced that the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) has sanctioned Natalia Polyakova, Tatyana Kachegina and Sergey Kotov with four year bans, whilst shot put athlete Yana Mikhailova received a two year ban.

None of the RusAF sanctions appeared on the updated list of sanctions published by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on  31 October 2018 (see below). The IAAF has said it will consider whether RusAF should be reinstated as an IAAF Member at its Council meeting in December.
