Rugby player Phil Robinson Banned Following Anti-Doping Rule Violation

UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has today confirmed that rugby player Phil Robinson has been suspended from all sport, for two years, following an anti-doping rule violation. Robinson tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, following an in-competition test on 8 September 2014.The athlete is banned from all competition from 27 September 2014 until midnight on 26 September 2016. The full written decision can be found under current rule violations.

UK Anti-Doping’s Director of Legal, Graham Arthur said: “Robinson is not only a rugby player but was an analyst working for a Premiership Club.  His actions have not only impacted on his playing career but on his professional working career as well. I hope that a case such as this one will act as a deterrent to others and demonstrate that there is no place for athletes who go against the culture of clean and fair sport.”
