Ukrainian football club FC Olimpik are under investigation for alleged match-fixing, reports Reuters. Igor Kochetov, and official with the Ukrainian football federation (FFU) apparently told the ProFootball TV programme that 12 of the club’s games from last season are being scrutinised, citing “indirect proof” that FC Olimpik players were involved.
It is understood that the FFU cited the case as a way of underlining why it decided to submit a Bill to tackle match-fixing and corruption in sport to the country’s Parliament. The Draft Law on the Prevention of Influence on the Results of Official Sports: Corruption Offences was submitted by the FFU on 2 July, and it has recently called for politicians and public support. The full text of the Bill is available here.
