The Intelligence and Investigations Department of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is to report the findings of an investigation into Romania to the WADA Executive Committee meeting in Montreal on 16 May, a spokesperson has confirmed. WADA suspended the Bucharest Laboratory for six months on 15 February, after it was provisionally suspended on 29 November 2017, due to a ‘number of non-conformities with the International Standard for Laboratories’.
‘In parallel, an investigation has been ongoing’, wrote a WADA spokesperson in an email. ‘In relation to that, our Intelligence and Investigations Department will report to the WADA Executive Committee and WADA Foundation Board in May. We do not comment on the specifics of ongoing investigations.’ It is understood that WADA has been investigating allegations that test results were falsified.
Worrying news: Now from Romania. Reason for suspension of Bucharest @wada_ama doping control lab: Suspicion of big corruption. Several sources confirm to ARD: they falsified test results -under pressure from officials. Positives became negatives. Why WADA kept quiet about this?
