Congress passed the US Anti-Doping Agency Reauthorization Act (S.2338) on Friday 12 December, continuing recognition of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) as the US national anti-doping agency. The Bill, which has been put forward to be signed by President Obama, mandates USADA as the national anti-doping agency until 2020.
It also clears up a technicality within the Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 2006. It replaces USADA’s role in preventing the use by amateur athletes of performance-enhancing genetic modifications accomplished through gene doping with a role in preventing the use of all prohibited performance-enhancing methods.
