Three powerlifters, two rugby players and five athletes competing in other sports have been sanctioned for anti-doping rule violations, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has recently announced. Narine Kotenko (Наринэ Котенко) was sanctioned with an eight year ban from 14 November 2026 for competing whilst banned for a second time. The eight year ban will be added to a previous eight year ban issued in November 2018, after the Powerlifting Coach was sanctioned for use or attempted use of a prohibited substance; tampering with doping control; complicity; and competing whilst banned. She will now be ineligible until 14 November 2034.
A second Powerlifter, Algis Neknedavicius (Альгиса Некнедавичюса), was sanctioned with a five year ban from 24 September for use/attempted use of a prohibited substance. A third Powerlifter, Oleg Gorbunov (Олега Горбунова), was sanctioned with a two year ban from 29 October for the same offence. It is not known if the three Powerlifting cases are connected.
Anton Rudoy (Антона Рудого), a former national team rugby player who won the national championships six times with Yenisey-STM, was sanctioned with a two year ban from 1 September 2020, after reporting an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for a prohibited substance. Rudoy signed for Yenisey’s rivals, Krasny Yar, in 2019.
