The Sri Lankan Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) has sanctioned female sprinter Achala Shalika Dias with a four-year ban, after she tested positive for steroids. Dias was tested on 10 May during the national selection trials for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Beijing. Local reports said that the positive test was announced during a media conference at the Sri Lanka National Institute of Sports Science on 21 September.
The Sports Integrity Initiative attempted to contact SLADA for confirmation of the positive, however the telephone number listed on its internet site was unanswered, and the email address listed appears not to be valid. Reports said that Dias had tested positive for metanolon and trenbolone, and had been given a four-year ban following a temporary suspension.
