• Michael Randall, who plays for Peel Thunder, has returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF – or ‘positive test’) for phentermine, the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has announced. Phentermine is a stimulant often present in weight loss drugs, and is prohibited in competition only.
• Stefano Lanzi, who recently won the Masters 4 (45-49) World Championship title in the Marathon discipline, has been provisionally suspended due to an adverse analytical finding (AAF – or ‘positive test’) for clenbuterol. Lanzi’s sanction features in the latest list of provisional suspensions published by the international cycling union (UCI – PDF below). Lanzi told Italy24 that he had been prescribed medication following a crash and he presented his medical records to doping control officials.
• The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has declared a rival anti-doping agency formed by the government of Pakistan illegal, reports The News. WADA previously gave Pakistan warning that the only body authorised to carry out anti-doping activity in Pakistan was the Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan (ADOP).
