• Three powerlifters and a weightlifter have been sanctioned with bans for doping offences, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has announced. Two powerlifters, Egor Musienko (Егора Мусиенко) and Vasiliy Polenin (Василия Поленина) have been sanctioned with four year bans, whilst Nikolay Busygin (Николая Бусыгина) has been sanctioned with a two year ban. Weightlifter Magomet Khappaev (Магомета Хаппаева) was also sanctioned with a four year ban.
• The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced that Carla Magnoni has been provisionally suspended after returning an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide. The Bolivian’s case will be heard at a later date.
• The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has notified Muslim Salikhov about a ‘potential anti-doping rule violation’ from an out of competition sample collected on 7 June, the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) announced.
• Racing Australia has passed new rules that would allow it to seize electronic devices used to place bets with illegal offshore operators from anyone covered the Australian rules of racing, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. As reported by The Sports Integrity Initiative, a number of offshore gambling companies have recently been targeting Australian customers, and questions have been raised about whether they are licensed, as required by the country’s Interactive Gambling Act (IGA).
• Baseball player Antonio Bastardo has been sanctioned with a 140-game suspension after testing positive for stanozolol, reports MSN. Bastardo was previously sanctioned in 2013 due to his alleged involvement with the Biogenesis clinic.
