Sports Integrity Briefs – 18 September 2017

• The deadline for athletes who are part of an international federation’s registered testing pool (RTP) to complete their whereabouts information through the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS) for the October to December quarter is 30 September. Athletes who are part of an RTP must provide accurate information by this date, including a mail address; overnight accommodations; details of regular activities (training, school, etc.); competition details; and a one hour time slot between 5:00 and 23:00 for every day.

Joseph Weiler, who resigned from FIFA’s Governance Committee in May as a protest against the removal of Miguel Maduro as Chair, has filed a complaint against FIFA President Gianni Infantino with FIFA’s Ethics Committee, reports the New York Times. Last week, Maduro told the Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) Committee of the UK Parliament that Infantino attempted to influence a decision on whether to block Russia’s Vice President, Vitaly Mutko, from the FIFA Council due to his implication in the Independent Person reports into systemic Russian doping, produced for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) by Richard McLaren.

• The Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE) has advised Irish politicians that the Olympic Council of Ireland’s (OCI) deal with THG Sports may have breached criminal law, reports the Irish Times. The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport met on 17 August to discuss the Moran Report, which found that the OCI and ticketing agent THG Sports had colluded to create a new company, Pro10 Sports Management, to become the Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) for the 2016 Rio Olympics after organisers rejected the OCI/THG application.

• Former professional cyclist, Raimondas Rumšas, is under investigation by Italian prosecutors over the death of his son four months ago, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. Linus Rumbas, 21, died following a cardiac arrest in Lucca, Italy, and it is understood that illegal products were found in the family’s apartment.

• Portuguese football club Benfica could face legal action, after alleging that eight football clubs are corrupt on its TV channel, reports Yahoo Sports.

• It is understood that Nicola Adams’ junior bantamweight bout against Alexandra Vlajk was called off at the last minute at the weekend, due to an issue with Vlajk’s pre-fight blood test. Adams was due to fight on the Saul Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin undercard. No further details are available at present.
