• The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has postponed the 2020 European Championships by 12 months, due to the Covid-19 virus. ‘UEFA Euro 2020 was scheduled to take place in twelve cities across Europe from 12 June to 12 July 2020’, read a statement. ‘The proposed new dates are 11 June – 11 July 2021. UEFA would like to reassure existing ticket buyers and hospitality clients that if they cannot attend the tournament in 2021, the face value of their tickets and packages will be refunded in full. Within the next month, further information on the refund process will be communicated to existing ticket buyers via e-mail and on euro2020.com/tickets.’

Hino Red Dolphins has apologised and suspended all games after a player was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug use. “That a player of Hino Red Dolphins of the Top League has been arrested due to suspicion of illegal drug use is regrettable”, said Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) Chairman Shigetaka Mori in a statement. “After the occurrence of the drug problem with Top League players last year, the responsibility of compliance by all 16 teams is being dealt with by an integrity officer”. The player involved is Joel Everson, reports Kyodo News. Last year, two players were reportedly involved in allegations of illegal drug use.

• Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (TNA) has disqualified golfer Nicola Maestroni for 15 months, Italy’s national anti-doping agency (NADO Italia) announced. Boxer Silvia Bortot was also sanctioned with a two year ban, NADO Italia announced.
