• One Kenyan distance runner has been sanctioned with a four year ban, and two others have been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of World Athletics. Sarah Chepchirchir has been sanctioned with a four year ban, after being provisionally suspended in February due to abnormalities in her Athlete Biological Passport (ABP). The former Tokyo Marathon winner had argued that the abnormalities were due to irregular mensturation; use of iron and other supplements, which were declared on her Doping Control Form (DCF). These arguments were dismissed by the AIU Panel in the Full Decision (PDF below). The AIU has also provisionally suspended Mercy Jerotich Kibarus and James Kibet, both of which returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for norandrosterone.
• World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has suspended Eddie Colón (Primo) and Robert Roode for 30 days each, for violations of the company’s ‘talent wellness policy’. The WWE Talent Wellness Program involves ‘cardiovascular testing, ImPACT, testing for brain function, substance abuse and drug testing, annual physicals, and health care referrals’. Colón told Primera Hora that his suspension was because he didn’t get tested in October because he was in Puerto Rico, and he plans to appeal.
• The international swimming federation (FINA) has suspended the swimming federations of Kenya (KSF) and the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) ‘until proper elections are held in accordance with FINA rules’.
