• The Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) announced it has received a letter from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) refusing to grant Authorised Neutral Athlete (ANA) status to five Nordic Walkers. The five are: Claudia Afanasyeva (Клавдия Афанасьева), Margarita Nikiforov (Маргарита Никифорова), Vitaliy Anchin (Виталий Анчин), Alexander Garin (Александр Гарин), and Aleksey Kudashkin (Алексей Кудашкин).
• Anti-Doping Switzerland has launched an investigation into Swiss national cycling coach Danilo Hondo, after he admitted blood doping. It is understood that the former professional cyclist was forced to confess after Dr. Mark Schmidt implicated him in comments made to the Munich public prosecutor’s office. The German doctor is at the centre of ‘Operation Aderlass’, launched after a February raid at the Nordic Skiing World Championships in Seefeld, Austria.
• Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense is to hold a press conference today, after it was reported that two of its players had returned adverse analytical findings (AAFs) from anti-doping tests. Thiago Heleno returned an AAF on 9 April after a match against Tolima; and Guilherme Camacho returned an AAF after a match against Jorge Wilstermann on 24 April, reported Globo Esporte. It is understood that both players used a supplement recommended to them by a nutritionist that contained a banned substance.
