The Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) has announced that two athletes have been sanctioned with four year bans for anti-doping rule violations, after they tested positive for prohibited substances earlier this year. Decathlete Vladislav Grinchuk, 25, returned an adverse analytical finding for turinabol, the brand name for the chlorodehydromethyltestosterone (CDMT) steroid.
His results from this year’s Russian Combined Events Indoor Championship, which took place on 14-16 February, will be cancelled. However, it is understood that he was withdrawn from competition following his 14 February AAF, and consequently did not place.
Yulia Stupina, a 20 year old 400m runner, has also been sanctioned with a four year ban after returning an AAF for oxandrolone and tuaminoheptane. Stupina results at the Russian Youth Championships, which also took place in February, will be cancelled. It is understood that she finished fourth in the 400m.
