Rugby Union player Greg Goodfellow has been suspended from all sport for a period of two years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV). Mr Goodfellow provided a urine Sample Out-of-Competition on 19 February 2019, at a Chinnor RFC squad test. Analysis of Mr Goodfellow’s Sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for methasterone.

Methasterone is classified as an Anabolic Androgenic Steroid under section S1.1(a) of the WADA 2019 Prohibited List. It is a non-Specified Substance and is prohibited at all times.

Mr Goodfellow was charged by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) with violating World Rugby Regulation 21.2.1 – “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in a Player’s Sample”. The National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP), a tribunal independent from the RFU and UKAD considered Mr Goodfellow’s case, making the initial decision on 11 February 2020 to impose a four-year ban.

Subsequently, Mr Goodfellow appealed this decision. His appeal before the Appeal Tribunal of the NADP was successful and the Appeal Tribunal imposed a two-year ban from sport on 20 May 2020. Mr Goodfellow’s period of Ineligibility commenced on 29 March 2019 and will end on 28 March 2021 inclusive.
