Hadi Sror has been withdrawn from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) World Championships in Yekaterinburg, Russia (7-21 Sept.), after reporting an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for erythropoietin (EPO). Sror was the only Norwegian boxer selected for the Championships.
It is understood that the AAF was the result of a 15 July urine test, taken after he had attended the annual StavernFestivalen music festival. In a press conference, the boxer told media he would be requesting analysis of his B sample.
“I have tested positive for EPO, that’s what I’ve been told”, said Sror at the press conference, reported DagBladet. “Before I received analysis of the B sample, they [Anti-Doping Norway] recommended that I confess, in order to get a lighter sentence”. Sror told the newspaper that he doesn’t have the resources, doctors, or competence to take EPO.
