The International Testing Agency (ITA) has confirmed that Russia cannot claim that all anti-doping tests performed on its athletes at Tokyo 2020 were negative, as Laboratory analysis is ongoing. On 10 August Andrey Zholinsky (Андрей Жолинский) told RIA Novosti that all doping tests performed on Russian athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were negative.
Zholinsky (pictured) is Director of the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA) that prepares Russian national team members for international competition. He is also a member of the Scientific Expert Council of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), and is considered to be chief physician to the ROC’s Tokyo 2020 team.
‘Laboratory analysis is indeed still ongoing’, wrote an ITA spokesperson in response to questions from The Sports Integrity Initiative. ‘As you rightly state, we cannot confirm what the article says at this stage’.
