• The International Testing Agency (ITA) reports that the Argentinean gymnast Martina Dominici has accepted a three year period of ineligibility after testing positive for two anabolic androgenic steroids.
The ITA confirms that Ms Martina Dominici has accepted the period of ineligibility starting on 5 June 2021 after testing positive twice for Stanozolol metabolites and Oxandrolone and its metabolites (S1.1 Anabolic Androgenic Steroids). The first sample was collected on behalf of the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) in the scope of an in-competition control during the 2021 Senior Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 5 June 2021. The second sample was collected during an out-of-competition testing mission led by the Argentinian National Anti-Doping Organization (CNAD) on 16 June 2021.
Ms Dominici qualified for a one-year reduction of the otherwise four-year period ineligibility pursuant to Article 10.8.1 of the FIG ADR (and equivalent provision in the World Anti-Doping Code) which applies when an athlete does not challenge the Anti-Doping Rule Violation and promptly accepts the consequences. Ms Dominici’s results have been disqualified from 5 June 2021 onwards, including the results obtained during the 2021 Senior Pan American Championships in accordance with Articles 9 and 10.10 of the FIG ADR.
