A toxicologist has concluded that tramadol detected in the urine of sled dogs competing in the Iditarod Trail was administered post race, raising questions as to whether an adverse analytical finding (AAF) reported in October last year was a deliberate attempt at sabotage. ‘The time frame of 2 hours to less than 4 hours post-dosing for the Tramadol dosing provides evidence of intentional doping of the Seavey dogs post race and warrants an investigation for deliberate intent by unknown person(s) to compromise the integrity of the Iditarod’, read a toxicology report from Patricia Williams (PDF below).
