David Howman, Director General of the World Anti-Doping Agency, has said that organised crime controls 25% of world sport. “The biggest threat to sport is organised crime”, Howman told delegates at the Securing Sport conference on Monday 6 October. “I think that organised crime controls 25% of sport, in one way or another. These guys who are distributing drugs…are the same guys who are paying money to people to fix games.”

When questioned, Howman told media that the 25% figure comes from the information that WADA receives from international police organisation Interpol.
