Argentinian tennis player Federico Coria has been suspended for eight (8) months and fined $10,000 for committing breaches of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. Six (6) months of the period of ineligibility has been suspended on condition that he commits no further offences. Half of the fine ($5,000) is also suspended on the same terms.

On 25^th May this year independent Anti-corruption Hearing Officer (AHO) Jane Mulcahy QC ruled that Mr Coria had failed to report corrupt approaches made to him in July and August 2015. He also committed a ‘technical’ breach of failing to co-operate with a TIU investigation: http://www.tennisintegrityunit.com/media-releases/independent-disciplinary-hearing-finds-federico-coria-guilty-tennis-corruption-offences

The suspension handed down by AHO Mulcahy is effective from 13th June and means that the player is not allowed to compete in, or attend, any sanctioned events organised or recognised by the governing bodies of the sport. He will be eligible to resume playing professional tennis from 12^th August, assuming no further offences are committed. The Tennis Integrity Unit is an initiative of the Grand Slam Board, the International Tennis Federation, the ATP and the WTA, who are jointly committed to a zero tolerance approach to corruption in tennis.
