Estonian wrestler seeks hearing before Tokyo 2020

Heiki Nabi is seeking a hearing before the Estonian Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission so that the Greco-Roman wrestler stands a chance of competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Nabi, a 2016 World Champion and Silver medalist at the London 2012 Olympics, was provisionally suspended in February following an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for letrozole, normally used to treat breast cancer in women.

Nabi maintains that the AAF is a case of accidental contamination according to Paul Keres, the lawyer representing him. ‘We’ve not yet ad a hearing on the merits of Heiki’s case’, he wrote in an email. ‘It’s an accidental contamination case and we’ve filed a hefty body of expert evidence as part of our submission. CAS proceedings may still follow, if either party fells the the Commission erred in the application of the Estonian Anti-Doping Rules or the World Anti-Doping Code.’
