ITF increased number of doping tests in 2014

Figures published by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) show that it has increased the total number of doping tests conducted in 2014 to 3,529, compared to the 2,752 conducted in 2013 and the 2,185 conducted in 2012 (not including London 2012 tests). However, the number of in-competition blood samples collected declined from 364 in 2013 to 207. However, the number of out-of-competition samples collected increased from 593 to 1,439. The figures do not include samples collected by other organisations.

The ITF also published the number of tests per player, however anyone who underwent more than seven tests is categorised as ‘7+’, making comparison of individual players difficult. The following players were tested more than 14 times by the ITF in 2014, recording a value of ‘7+’ tests for both in and out of competition:

Pablo Andujar (Spain); Julien Benneteau (France); Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic); Eugenie Bouchard (Canada); Jeremy Chardy (France); Marin Cilic (Croatia); Alize Cornet (France); Novak Djokovic (Serbia); Ivan Dodig (Croatia); Sara Errani (Italy); Roger Federer (Switzerland); Kirsten Flipkens (Belgium); Simona Halep (Romania); Denis Istomin (Uzbekistan); Ana Ivanovic (Serbia); Jerzy Janowicz (Poland); Kaia Kanepi (Estonia); Angelique Kerber (Germany); Karin Knapp (Italy); Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic); Ekaterina Makarova (Russia); Gael Monfils (France); Andy Murray (Great Britain); Andrea Petkovic (Germany); Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland); Milos Raonic (Canada); Lukas Rosol (Czech Republic); Lucie Safarova (Czech Republic); Andreas Seppi (Italy); Joao Sousa (Portugal); Elina Svitolina (Ukraine); Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France); Fernando Verdasco (Spain); Roberta Vinci (Italy); Stan Wawrinka (Switzerland); and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (Czech Republic).
