• Marc-André Lauzon, a member of Canada’s cheerleading squad, has been sanctioned with a four year ban for an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) involving GW501516, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced. Development of the metabolic modulator was discontinued in 2007, after it was found to cause cancer in mice.

• Emili Rousaud, a former Vice President of FC Barcelona who resigned in protest against the way in which the Primera Liga club is being run, has alleged that the shredding of contracts supports his allegations of corruption. ‘The existence of corruption within the club is evidence in the already proven fact that contracts between related companies (one based in a tax haven, in violation of the law) were shredded to avoid allegations of money laundering or in order to avoid internal controls’, he wrote in a statement provided to EFE. One of the contracts which was allegedly shredded was with 13 Ventures, hired by the club to present a positive image on social media, but allegedly also to criticise opponents to club President Josep Maria Bartomeu. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been commissioned to audit the monitoring services of social networks contracted by the club. Six former executives of the club resigned in protest against Bartomeu earlier this month and previous comments by Rousaud have led the club to take legal action against him. 

• Daniel Kinyua Wanriju, the winner of the 2017 London Marathon, has been provisionally suspended after being charged with use of a prohibited substance / method, based on analysis of his athlete biological passport (ABP), the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of World Athletics announced. ‘I am clean in the sports I do’, read a statement from the Kenyan, posted on his management company’s Facebook page (below). ‘The ABP finding is confusing and frustrating me. Specialists have informed me about how this can happen and I have come to realise there can be hundreds of reasons found why HB [haemoglobin] is fluctuating.’
