• The Energy and Commerce Committee of the US House of Representatives will hear evidence from USA Volleyball, USA Swimming, the US Olympic Committee, USA Taekwondo, USA Gymnastics, and the US Centre for SafeSport in a hearing entitled ‘Examining the Olympic Community’s Ability to Protect Athletes from Sexual Abuse’, which will take place from 10am EDT today. • The Canadian New Democratic Party’s Critic for Sport, Cheryl Hardcastle, has invited the Liberals and Conservatives to co-sponsor ‘Changing the Game: An All Party Symposium Addressing Sexual Abuse in Sport’ on 30 May in Ottawa. The event will feature Dr. Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu, from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Working Group on the Prevention of Abuse in Sport; Eva Rodansky, former member of USA speedskating team, and a key person who worked with Speedskating Canada in the investigation of head coach Michael Crowe; Dr. Margery Holman, professor emeritus, University of Windsor and pioneer researcher on abuse in sport; Senator Marilou McPhedran, O.C., leading women’s right advocate; Dorothy Williams, residential school survivor and teacher; and Sylvain Croteau, Director General and founding member of Quebec’s Sport’Aide.
• Fabricio Werdum has been notified of an adverse analytical finding (AAF) as a result of a sample collected on 25 April 2018, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced. Werdum was UFC heavyweight champion in 2015.
