• The Movement for Credible Cycling (MPCC) said that cycling has reported four doping cases from the start of the year until the end of March – six times less that the 26 reported involving athletics and one less than the five football cases. The MPCC said that weightlifting and baseball reported the most cases behind athletics, while cycling reported the eighth-highest number of doping cases. The country reporting the most doping cases to the end of March 2017 was the US.

• The Venezuelan professional baseball league (LVBP) suspended five players for violating its anti-doping programme during 2016/17, it announced on 15 May. Sanctioned were pitcher Leuris Gómez, hitter Alex Cabera, catcher Josmil Pinto, as well as outfielders René Reyes and Alex Romero.

• The French Tennis Federation (FFT) has decided not to offer Maria Sharapova a wildcard entry to its Roland-Garros tournament, which starts on 22 May. Sharapova, who does not have enough ranking points to qualify for either the main tournament or the qualifying event following her return from a doping ban, was not included on the list of wildcard entries. Sharapova was initially issued with a two-year ban by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on 8 June last year, which was reduced on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to 15 months.
