Amateur rugby league player Hayden Blackley has become the 20th person to be sanctioned as a result of investigations into customers of online steroid supplier NZ Clenbuterol. Drug Free Sport New Zealand (DFSNZ) alleged that he bought a 20ml bottle of the substance on 13 February 2015, and used at it various times.
Blackley argued that he bought the clenbuterol as an alternative weight loss product, and he had not used it on the advice of his friends. All parties agreed to accept a two year ban backdated to 15 October 2017, without the need for a hearing.
