The Italian anti-doping agency (NADO Italia) has sanctioned bodybuilder Ivan Pavan with a 14 year ban from 15 November 2018 until 14 November 2032. Pavan was sanctioned for violations of Articles 2.6, 2.7, 2.8 and 4.3.2 of Italy’s Norme Sportive Antidoping (NSA), which involves possession, trafficking, and attempted administration during competition. Pavan took first place in the plus 80kg category for over 40 year olds at the Grand Prix del Triveneto 2016 Wabba International.
NADO Italia also announced actions regarding three cyclists. Amateur Masters cyclist Fabio Oliveri has been sanctioned with a four year ban expiring on 18 September 2022. Oliveri returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for fenoterol on 29 April at the ‘Langhe e Roero Bra Bra Specialized 2018’ road race.
NADO Italia provisionally suspended Giuseppe de Salvo, after he returned an AAF for triamcinolone acetonide and its metabolite in a 7 October test at the 14th Gran Fondo Marineo. NADO Italia also dismissed an appeal from Mina Rosario against a four year sanction issued in June.
Separately, the Italian cycling federation (FCI) announced that it had approved a four year ban levied against Eloise Ulderica Tresoldi, who competes for Team Isolmant-Specialized. Tresoldi tested positive on 1 July at the Italian Championships XCM. In a 21 July statement, Team Isolmant-Specialized said that it ‘disassociates itself from what has happened’.
