Elite male triathlete, Ivan Lo Ching Hin, has been given a four-year ban by the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee (HKADC) for refusing a drug test on 12 May. Mr. Lo Ching Hin won a silver medal in the U23 Asian Triathlon Championships in 2012 and is considered one of Hong Kong’s leading triathletes. He was part of the Hong Kong team that finished fourth in the 2014 Asian Games triathlon, and won both the New World International Triathlon and the senior Hong Kong Cross Country Championship last year.
‘The Disciplinary Panel had carefully considered the case and Mr. Lo was found guilty for violating the HKADC Anti-Doping Rules due to his refusal to submit to sample collection without compelling justification’, read a HKADC statement released today. ‘Mr. Lo subsequently appealed to the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Appeal Panel. The appeal hearing was conducted on 16 November 2015 and the decision of the Disciplinary Panel was upheld by the Appeal Panel. Mr. Lo’s period of ineligibility is from 26 May 2015 to 25 May 2019.’
