USADA announced today that Mohamed Omar, of Jackson, N.J., an athlete in the sport of weightlifting, has received a two-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation. Omar, 22, tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite M2 as the result of a urine sample collected out-of-competition on January 29, 2019. Clomiphene is a Specified Substance in the class of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators and is prohibited at all times under the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing, the United States Olympic Committee National Anti-Doping Policies, and the International Weightlifting Federation Anti-Doping Policy, all of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.
Omar’s two-year period of ineligibility began on May 2, 2019, the date his sanction was imposed. In addition, Omar has been disqualified from competitive results obtained on and subsequent to January 29, 2019, the date his positive sample was collected, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.
