Three weightlifters, a powerlifter, and a sprinter have been sanctioned for anti-doping rule violations (ADRV), the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has announced. Sergey Bondarenko (Сергея Бондаренко), a member of the Russian national team in the +105kg category, has been sanctioned with a four year ban from 19 May 2020 for an ADRV involving a positive test for a prohibited substance. Marchela Guidu (Марчела Гуйдю) has been sanctioned with a four year ban from 21 May 2020 for the same offence.
A third weightlifter, Beslan Gordogozhev (Беслана Гордогожева) was sanctioned with a four year ban from 13 August 2021. It is understood that Gordogozhev used substances that feature on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Prohibited List without a valid therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Gordogozhev won a Silver Medal in the 2019 Russian Youth Championships; while Guidu won a Silver and Bondarenko a Bronze at the 2015 Russian Championships.
Powerlifter Lyubov Lyutova (Любовь Лютова) was sanctioned with a two year ban for the same offence as Gordogozhev. Her ban will run from 8 August 2021. Finally, sprinter Yuliya Dovzhenko (Юлию Довженко) has been sanctioned with a four year ban from 4 December 2019 due to an ADRV involving a positive test for a prohibited substance. She hasn’t competed since June 2019.
