The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has released a video warning athletes about the hazards involved with using dietary supplements. The video warns that product labels on dietary supplements may not always reflect the true ingredients. In the video, USADA highlights that supplements are often sold before they are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This can often result in contaminated supplements going under the radar, as shown in one example in the video, where a vitamin supplement was found to contain Methasterone – an anabolic steroid. This video was created as part Supplement 411, which is USADA’s dietary and supplement safety education and awareness resource.
