Sports Integrity Briefs – 31 May 2017

• The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has published its latest list of athletes sanctioned for a doping offence. It includes a four-year ban issued to US indoor shot put champion Darien Moore following a positive test at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships in March; a four-year ban issued to Latifa Schuster following a positive test at last year’s Munich Marathon; a four-year ban issued to Abdullah (Hussain) Al Khalifa following a positive test at the Kingdom 1st Class Championships in Jeddah on 4 March this year; a four-month ban issued to Christel Dewalle following the 2016 Skyrunning World Championships in Spain; and more.

• Serbian ice-hockey player Miloš Nikolić has been sanctioned with a two-year ban by the Serbian Ice Hockey Association, after he returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for cocaine following a 7 March test. ‘The sentence includes the period of temporary suspension from 2 April 2017’, read a statement from the Anti-Doping Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AARS).

• Russian 2016 race-walking champion Pyotr Trofimov has been sanctioned with a four-year ban, after an abnormal haematological profile was found through analysis of his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP). A statement from the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) said that the decision to disqualify was taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). ‘The period of Trofimov’s disqualification started from the date of the temporary suspension on 3 November 2016 and will end on 2 November’, it read. ‘Also, all the results of the athlete, from 13nAugust 2009 to 18 May 2013, are cancelled’.
