Iran’s anti-doping agency bans eight for doping

Iran’s National Anti-Doping Organisation (IRANADO) has sanctioned two footballers, three judoka and three weightlifters with doping bans ranging from six months to four years. Footballer Zohreh Meysemi (زهره میثمی), a member of the women’s national team, is understood to have been sanctioned with a four year ban after returning an adverse analytical finding (AAF)  for metandienone. Another footballer, Mohammad Miri Seyed (سید محمد میری) is understood to have been sanctioned with a six month ban, which expires on 26 June, after he returned AAF an for methylhexanamine.

The three judoka were all sanctioned with four year bans. Hossein Amir Talebi (امیر حسین طالبی) for an AAF involving metandienone; Masoud Kharabat (مسعود خرابات) for an AAF involving oxandrolone; and Ali Akbar Mohammadi (علی اکبر محمدی) for an AAF involving norandrosterone.

Weightlifter Shamsi Farid Fallah (سید فرید فلاح شمسی) is understood to have received a four year ban after returning an AAF for metandienone, as did another weightlifter who returned an AAF for furosemide. Another weightlifter, Abbas Zandi (عباس زندی), is listed as having received a six month ban after returning an AAF for methylhexanamine.
