The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) reported negative results from all 160 urine samples collected at the 2014 Men’s and Women’s World Championships. In addition, urine tests and blood tests used to detect Human Growth Hormone (HGH), collected out of competition in the lead up to the World Championships as well as the World League and World Grand Prix, all came back negative, the FIVB reported on 6 November.
At its 34th World Congress, the FIVB pledged on 1 November to ensure that from 2015, its medical regulations are in line with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The 210 national association members present also approved several decisions recommended by the FIVB Board of Administration. This included making ambulance availability during competitions compulsory and the return of anti-doping results within seven days after sample collection.
